Club Nationals in Ottawa

club nats 2008 logoThis weekend, clubs from the Ottawa region are hosting the 17U and 18U Canadian Open National Championships, for both girls and boys, at various venues around Ottawa.

Now, this is the tournament where the best of Canadian youth volleyball gets together for one big 3-day volleyball throwdown, so there’s going to be a ton of great matches being played at gyms around Ottawa and Hull. The Division I Tier 1 finals for both 18U boys and girls are being played on Sunday at Carleton University.

If you’re within striking distance, you should get out and see some games; although I’m told the finals will be broadcast at a later date on Rogers TV. Admission costs are on an event pass/day pass basis, $20/$10 for adults, $10/$5 for youths, and kids under 12 free. Or, you can follow the action online from the championships website on Volleyball Canada, where you’ll find full schedules, scores and standings, as well as directions to the various venues and updated news stories.

The event is being put on by tireless volunteers from various OVA Region 6 clubs - National Captials, Ottawa Mavericks, Ottawa Kangaroos, Kingston Pegasus, and others, as well as the Griffons club from Gatineau - who did such a great job hosting the 18U provincials last year. So you know it’s going to be a well run show.

It’s going to be a great weekend of volleyball, featuring some of the best up-and-coming talent from across the country. Don’t miss it!

Its spelled Kangaroos.

Whoa. Tough crowd. Next time I’ll wait until I’ve had that 2nd cup of coffee to avoid the typos. :)

But I’m guessing you’re probably affiliated with the club, and you’re right, it should be spelled correctly!

All fixed.

(And then there’s the whole thing about “it’s”, a contraction of it is, versus “its”, which is the possessive… but I understand typos happen. ;) )
